Objectives and content

  • Listening skills: You will familiarise yourself further with authentic audio fragments.
  • Speaking skills: You will learn to express yourself fluently and spontaneously about different topics without having to search for specific words.
  • Reading skills: You will familiarise yourself further with longer authentic text materials.
  • Specific grammar topics: The basic principles of the English grammar (e.g. relative clauses, gerund vs. to-infinitive) will be revised and further explored.

Required prior knowledge

You already have advanced knowledge of English:

  • You can participate in a fluent spontaneous conversation, interacting normally with native speakers.
  • You can participate actively in a discussion and defend your views - in a familiar setting.
  • You still have doubts about when to use the present perfect and the simple past.
  • Your vocabulary is quite extensive, but you wish to enlarge it further.

Tests

There is a placement test and a final test.
You will need to complete a short online test before registration. This way, you will be able to assess whether your level matches the course Practical English 5. During the first session, your teacher will evaluate if the result of the online test can be confirmed. If you are referred to a different level you can enter that level on condition that sufficient places are still available.
