Doctoral schools: conference skills – module Presentation Skills in English

Objectives and content

This course is aimed at improving the presentation skills for academic conferences in English.

This module of the Conference Skills trajectory investigates the basic skills needed for a successful academic presentation. The course starts by analyzing the basic structure and evaluating alternative eye-catchers. Afterwards, we will discuss proper body language and voice use. At the end, tips and tricks for a well-executed question round are provided. In the final session, the students give a short presentation on which they receive feedback from both their peers and their lecturer.

The participants will give a short presentation at the end of the course. The course may count toward doctoral training (1 credit).
