Objectives and content
- Listening skills: Your listening skills will be improved further by means of longer and more challenging audio excerpts.
- Speaking skills: By the end of this course, you will be able to participate in a conversation on topics that you are familiar with without preparation and quite fluently, using longer complex sentences.
- Writing skills: We will mainly focus on writing personal messages, invitations, etc.
- Reading skills: We will focus on the general understanding of longer and more challenging texts.
- Specific grammar items: l'imperfetto, il condizionale composto, i pronomi relative che / cui, i pronomi combinati, le particelle ci/ne, i gradi di comparazione, la forma passive e il si passivante, il gerundio.
- Specific grammatical topics: taking a plane, leisure activities (sport, culture, etc.), describing a person's appearance and characteristics, school/university, etc.
Required prior knowledge
You already have thorough basic knowledge of Italian:
- You can participate quite fluently in a conversation on topics that you are familiar with or that relate to your daily life (family, travel, job, hobbies, etc.).
- You know basic vocabulary but you would like to expland your vocabulary.
- You can understand a conversation between Italians quite well, even when they speak fast.
- You have a thorough understanding of basic grammar: il presente, il passato prossimo, il futuro e condizionale semplice, l’imperativo, le preposizioni, i pronomi personali, possessivi, diretti, indiretti e riflessivi.
Tests
There is a placement test and a final test.
Before registering, you take the online orientation test. This test refers you to the course that matches your level best. To have a full and accurate idea of your level, you will take an orientation test during the first session as well. Based on the outcome of this orientation test, you may be referred to another course because it is more suitable for you. You can only take this course if places are available.
