Objectives and content
- Speaking skills: The basic knowledge of level 1 and 2 is put into practice by means of more open assignments (e.g. discussions on a specific topics, communicative role plays). The contexts are real and are based on daily reality.
- Listening skills: You will learn to understand the gist of authentic (radio) messages on familiar topics.
- Writing skills: The structures seen in class will be practised in simple, guided assignments. At the end of the course, you will be able to write simple texts on familiar topics.
- Reading skills: From this level onwards, a lot of attention is paid to reading (simple) authentic texts. This will enable you to acquire useful reading strategies and you will also extend your practical vocabulary.
- Specific grammatical items: You will learn structures which are typical of a more formal register (e.g. the passive, the hypothetical sentence).
Required prior knowledge
You have basic knowledge of Dutch:
- You know the basic grammar of the Dutch language and you can manage in everyday life (introducing yourself, communicating on transport, health, hobbies, etc.).
- You can give information on yourself, in simple messages (spoken as well as written) and you understand the overall meaning of general texts (reading and listening).
You want to extend your knowledge of the Dutch language and put it into practice.
Tests
There is a placement test and a final test.
The date of the orientation test (for students Dutch level 2 - 6 who failed the final test) can be found of the proof of registration.
